The Citizens' Assembly is now hard at work and will deliver its report to both Councils in mid-May
Thank you to the many Duncan and North Cowichan residents who attended our two public roundtable meetings
The Citizens' Assembly hosted its first public roundtable meeting on February 2, 2017 - we invite you to join us for the second on April 6, 2017, 7pm - 9pm at the Island Savings Centre, Duncan. Doors open at 6:30, and light refreshments will be served.
These meetings are an opportunity to learn more about the Assembly and to share your thoughts on the proposed merger.
The first meeting started with brief remarks from the Mayor of Duncan, Phil Kent, and a short presentation concerning the Assembly's process and mandate. Then we invited you to discuss two topics in small groups with members of the Assembly. The first discussion concerned the expectations for local government, and the second will focus on issues that you think are relevant to any examination of this merger.
An outline of the second meeting will be posted in March.
